Design Process

Kimberly Demmy Design specializes in creating timeless and sophisticated environments that reflect the personality and preferences of the client.  Most people have an idea of how they want their space to look, function and feel.  Getting your space to translate into a tangible environment that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing isn’t always as easy…

Here are the steps KD Design will take you through to clarify your interior design needs/preferences and to create the home you've always envisioned:

Initial Design Consultation

An initial design consultation will take place at your home and the needs of the project will be evaluated. Before the consultation, it is helpful to gather any material that reflects your interior design likes and dislikes.  This may include pictures from magazines, design books, fabric samples, paint swatches, art pieces, etc.  If you do not have any design material - no need to worry - we will assist you in identifying your style preferences.

Letter of Agreemet, budget and design fees will be discussed during this meeting.

Exploration of Design Preferences

Once your general style preferences have been established, we will schedule a time to visit The Design Center and local furniture retailers to identify colors, patterns/textures, furniture, rugs and art you are drawn to. This process will assit in creating a clear understanding of the direction your project will take.

Design Board / Floor Plan

A design board will be created to showcase the direction of the project.  The board will include furniture, fabric, paint, flooring, drapery, accessory selections, etc.

Click to see design board examples.

Floor plans may be created to illustrate the best and most effective use of your space.

Once the design board and the floor plans are complete, an appointment will be scheduled to review and make any modifications to the proposed design ideas/plans.

Product, finishes and materials will be ordered and outside contracting services will be scheduled.

Once contracting services are complete and all product has arrived – The final installation will be scheduled to complete the design process.
